reiki energyThe Universal Life Force

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is, in its simplest translation, universal life energy. It is the life force that exists in all things. The practice of Reiki is the art and science of channeling this universal life energy, or force, to promote spiritual, mental and physical well being. As Reiki involves directing the natural flow of universal energy, it can best be compared to recharging a battery. When a battery’s energy supply is low, it doesn’t function well. By introducing a charge to it, it can once again run on its own. Reiki works much the same way. If you are in pain, whether it be physical, mental or spiritual, your energy supply is lessened. Reiki works to assist you in bringing your energy level back up to its natural flow, enhancing your own natural healing powers. The Reiki practitioner does not suffer from energy depletion, as they are trained to channel energy from the outside environment, not from their personal supply.

Reiki was re-discovered in the 1900’s by Dr. Mikao Usui. Reiki is an age old method of healing. Upon searching the world over, Dr. Usui found, in ancient writings in Tibet, the keys to healing with touch, as well as the precise information for applying them.

Reiki energy is a unique non-evasive, highly effective hands-on natural healing technique. It is channeled through the practitioner who has received the attunements. The receiver lies fully clothed on a comfortable table. Energy is channeled and flows to the area of need. Clients may feel a tingling sensation, heat, or waves of energy running through their bodies. Clients often get a feeling of well being after a reiki session. A treatment if conducted through a series of carefully orchestrated touch patterns, and lasts about an hour. The amount of energy transferred depends on the client’s needs and willingness to use it. Reiki is not related to any religious belief, but is purely a channeling of energy of the universe.

When a reiki master gives the attunement, then the practitioner has the ability to channel the reiki. Each attunement turns the practitioner to a higher frequency. There are four levels of Reiki, and three levels of energy. These are Reiki 1, Reiki 2, Master and Teacher. When attuned to Master, then attunements can be given to a student. The attunement involves master and student aligning their intention to receive Reiki. Once attuned, you have it for the rest of your life. Reiki is available to everyone!

What is Reiki?
Reiki is an ancient modality for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing of the body, mind and spirit. This is accomplished by the gentle, laying on of hands from practitioner to client—sending an unseen life force energy flowing through our bodies to promote healing.

Reiki can restore balance and harmony and promote harmony on all levels. Additional benefits are:

  • Strengthens immune system
  • Accelerates healing
  • Relieves pain
  • Relieves stress
  • Spiritual connection (although there is no particular religion required)
  • Calms, nurtures, and comforts

Reiki restores the balance between the physcial, emotional, spiritual and mental levels of all living things. Reiki is channeled by the practitioner after an attunement, which is given by a Reiki Master.

Anyone can learn to become a Reiki channel for both self healing and healing others. However, Reiki cannot be learned solely by reading about it. In order to be able to channel Reiki, you must become aligned to the Reiki vibration through attunements given by a Reiki Master. These attunements re-pattern your energy to match that of the Reiki vibration as well as to open an inner healing channel within the center of your body. This enables you to attract Reiki energy to you like a magnet.

The practitioner becomes a vessel for the energy to travel from the universe to a client.

Each attunement turns the practitioner to a higher frequency. The attunement process involves the master and student aligning their intention to receive Reiki, through their crown, heart, and palm chakras. It is then channeled through the practitioner, who has had the attunement, to the client

This is the basic course in Reiki and includes an attunement along with complete training in the use of the Reiki technique. The student is taught hand position, the history of Reiki, and how to use the universal energy. Specific instructions are given as to how to apply Reiki energy to yourself, as well as to others.
Cost $125

Second degree training can usually take place two to three months after the first degree, or when the student feels they are ready, both mentally and spiritually. During this training, the student receives another attunement and specific techniques for enhancing the flow of energy and for performing distance treatments. Reiki symbols are given, along with a manual for Level II.
Cost $225

This is an in depth training, in which you learn the power and energy of master level without teaching and performing a Reiki attunement. Prerequisite to Master Level is completion of Level I and Level II. You will be given the amster symbol, and the attunement greatly enhances the energy.
Cost $275

This is the highest level of Reiki. With this level, you will be able to teach and attune others to the Reiki energy. You will receive the last symbol, and instructions on how to attune others.
Cost $325

Reiki in Hospitals: There are now thousands of individuals as well as some organizations who are providing Reiki treatments to patients in hospitals or prior to their hospital admission. Some hospital practitioners have done an exceptional job and have worked closely with the hospital administration to create protocols, guidelines, and ethics that allow Reiki to be practiced in a way where the hospital, the practitioners, and the patients are all happy. Many health practitioners come to the wellness center for attunements so that they may use this modality to help others. Below are just a few of the Hospitals across the countries that are incorporating Reiki as part of their patient services.

  • Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, New York
  • Marin General Hospital, Marin County, California
  • Portsmouth Regional Hospital, Portsmouth, New Hampshire

Doctors, Hospitals and Nurses : At hospitals and clinics across America, Reiki is beginning to gain acceptance as a meaningful and cost-effective way to improve patient care. “Reiki sessions cause patients to heal faster with less pain,” says Marilyn Vega, RN, a private-duty nurse at the Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital in New York. [Reiki] accelerates recovery from surgery, improves mental attitude and reduces the negative effects of medication and other medical procedures.

Reiki and Western Medicine: You can continue to receive regular medical or psychological treatment while receiving Reiki. The healing energy of Reiki will improve the results of any medical treatment. It acts to reduce negative side effects, such as, chemotherapy, surgery, and other invasive procedures. It shortens healing time, reduces, or eliminates pain and stress. It has been regularly noted that patients receiving Reiki leave the hospital earlier than those who did not. Below is a list of known illnesses and medical diagnosis that have had a positive effect from Reiki intervention when done by Reiki Practitioners across the globe.

Enhance your health and quality of life!!! Reiki is good medicine for the multitude of physical and emotional discomforts that accompany cancer and it’s treatment. Reiki has been known to ease pain, reduce nausea, fatigue and to help rebuild hope.

For those who are in the final stages of cancer and life – the patient needs to be touched frequently. Patients sometime withhold information or feelings from loved ones, believing they are protecting them. Some people can let down their barriers with the practitioner after a session and feel relieved.

Personal Testimonial for benefits of Reiki

My husband needed open heart surgery at a hospital in Wilmington, Delaware.

I was surprised to find that all the surgical nurses that would be assisting the surgeon were Reiki practitioners.

Their certifications were proudly displayed on the surgeon’s wall.

These nurses provided Reiki to my husband pre and post surgery. We feel that this service assisted in his speedy recovery as he was able to come home after a one week stay in the hospital following this extensive surgery. DG/LG
